Naija Postal Code is open for public use as independent digital addressing infrastructure for Nigeria. It is built to be taken seriously — and stated clearly as unofficial until the appropriate authorities formally adopt it.
Public status
This page states how Naija Postal Code should be understood while it is publicly available. Please read it before relying on the service for business, product or operational decisions.
Unofficial civic infrastructure
Naija Postal Code is an independently developed digital addressing system for Nigeria. It is not an official product of the Federal Government of Nigeria, any state government, NIPOST, or any other government agency unless and until that is formally announced.
Serious by design
The system is built as durable public infrastructure: Local Government Area–rooted postcodes, mapped streets and buildings, privacy-safe public lookup, and operational controls for authorised administrators. Public availability is intentional — so people, businesses and institutions can use it while national adoption is pursued.
Engagement with government
We welcome review, partnership and formal adoption by the appropriate Nigerian authorities. Until that happens, treat Naija Postal Code as a civic reference layer — useful and carefully maintained, but not a statutory national postcode.

You must not
- Claim that a Naija Postal Code value is an official government or NIPOST postcode.
- Present this website, API or dataset as a government service, gazette, or regulated postal product.
- Use the system as the sole authority for land title, ownership, residency, taxation, voting, immigration, policing, or other legal determinations.
- Rely on it as the only source of truth for emergency response, life-safety routing, or regulated compliance without independent verification.
- Scrape, republish or resell registry data in a way that implies official endorsement or that exposes personal data beyond the public lookup contract.
Accuracy, liability and risk
Naija Postal Code aims to be careful, auditable and useful. It is still a living dataset. These limits protect both the public and the operators while the system matures and engages government.
- Address data may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect or uneven across LGAs. Coverage will expand over time.
- Public lookup returns delivery-relevant location information only. It does not prove identity, ownership or permission to enter a property.
- To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operators provide the service “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted accuracy.
- To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising from use of or reliance on the service.
- Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of (a) fees you paid for the specific paid service giving rise to the claim in the three months before the claim, or (b) one thousand Nigerian Naira (₦1,000), except where a mandatory law requires otherwise.
Names, marks and representations
“Naija Postal Code”, related product names, logos and interface designs are used to identify this independent project. Nothing on these sites grants you a licence to use those marks in a way that suggests government affiliation, official status or endorsement.
If you write about or integrate the service, describe it accurately as an independent digital addressing project for Nigeria — not as the national postal authority or a government gazette.
Privacy and public data
Public lookup is limited to delivery-relevant address information. Owner names, resident identity, tax records and private government files are outside the public contract. See the Privacy page for detail. Misuse of the service to harass, stalk, discriminate against or unlawfully profile people is prohibited.
Changes and acceptance
By using the public websites, lookup tools or public APIs, you accept this status statement and these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
We may update this page as the project, coverage or legal posture changes. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date on this page.
These terms are intended to be read under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a court finds any part unenforceable, the remaining parts stay in effect.
